Split PDF

Split a PDF by page ranges or into fixed-size chunks.

Break a PDF into smaller files. Extract specific page ranges like "1-3, 8" into one PDF, or split every N pages into separate documents. All processing stays in your browser — nothing is uploaded.

Upload your PDF, then choose a split mode. Pick "By ranges" and type page numbers like "1-3, 5, 8-10" to pull those pages into a single combined PDF, or pick "Every N pages" to have the file automatically cut into equal chunks, each saved as its own PDF. Click Split to generate and download the result — everything happens locally in your browser.

Common mistakes

  • Typing page numbers as 0-based (e.g. "0-2" for the first three pages) — the tool counts pages starting at 1, so page 0 is silently ignored.
  • Expecting ranges mode to produce one file per range — instead all the pages you list are combined into a single PDF, in ascending page order regardless of how you typed them.
  • Assuming every-N mode also creates one file — it actually downloads a separate PDF for each chunk, which can mean many files for a large document.

Frequently asked questions

Can I extract just a few pages?

Yes — use ranges mode and enter something like "1-3, 5, 8-10" to pull those pages into a single PDF.

What syntax can I use for page ranges?

Separate individual pages and ranges with commas, e.g. "1-3, 5, 8-10". Pages are 1-based (the first page is 1, not 0), and duplicate or overlapping pages are automatically merged.

Can ranges mode create more than one output file?

No — ranges mode always combines every page you specify into a single downloaded PDF. If you need multiple separate files, use "Every N pages" instead, which saves one file per chunk.

Does splitting reduce quality or keep the original metadata?

Page content is copied exactly as-is, so there's no quality loss. However, each output is a new PDF file, so document-level metadata like the original title or author isn't carried over automatically.

What happens if I enter a page number that doesn't exist?

Any page outside the document's page count is silently ignored rather than causing an error. If none of the pages you entered are valid, you'll see an error message and no file will download.
