Image Resizer

Resize images by pixels or percentage, with optional aspect-ratio lock.

Make an image larger or smaller by exact width and height, or by percentage. Keep the aspect ratio to avoid stretching, or set both dimensions freely. Preview the result and download — all in your browser, nothing uploaded.

Drop an image here, or

Upload an image, then pick a resize mode: by percentage, by width, by height, or by exact width and height together. For width or height mode, leave "keep aspect ratio" on so the other dimension scales automatically. Preview the result and download it as PNG, JPEG, or WebP.

Common mistakes

  • Setting both width and height (mode "both") without matching the original aspect ratio — this stretches or squashes the image instead of scaling it cleanly.
  • Enlarging a small image far beyond its original size — upscaling can't add detail, so the result looks soft or blurry.
  • Expecting resizing alone to shrink file size much — fewer pixels helps, but for a real drop you also need to lower the quality/compression setting.

Frequently asked questions

Will enlarging blur my image?

Scaling up beyond the original resolution can look soft — enlarging adds no new detail.

Will resizing distort or stretch my image?

Only if you set width and height independently without keeping the aspect ratio. Use percentage mode, or width/height mode with "keep aspect ratio" on, to scale proportionally.

Can I make an image bigger without losing quality?

Not really — resizing up stretches existing pixels rather than inventing new detail, so very large enlargements will look soft no matter what tool you use.

What's the difference between resizing by percentage and by exact width or height?

Percentage scales both dimensions together by the same factor, always preserving proportions. Exact width or height lets you target a specific size, with aspect ratio kept only if you enable that option.

Does resizing reduce file size?

Usually somewhat, since fewer pixels means less data, but resizing alone doesn't compress the image — for a smaller file also reduce the quality when saving as JPEG or WebP.
