Common mistakes

Will I lose quality converting between formats?
Converting to a lossy format (JPEG or WebP) applies compression, so some quality is lost. Converting to PNG doesn't add loss, but it can't restore detail already lost from a source JPEG.
What happens to transparency when I convert to JPEG?
JPEG doesn't support transparency, so any transparent pixels are filled in with a solid background color. Use PNG or WebP if you need to keep transparency.
Which format should I choose for photos vs. graphics?
