Health & Fitness: practical guide
These calculators provide a small set of numerical indicators from the values you enter. Check the required units before entering height, weight, or activity information, and read the explanation beside the result. A single measure cannot describe a person’s overall health or fitness.
Worked example
BMI is calculated as weight in kilograms divided by height in metres squared. At 70 kg and 1.75 m, the result is about 22.9. This arithmetic example does not account for body composition, age, pregnancy, or individual medical history.
What to check before relying on a result
Health measures are screening or educational information, not a diagnosis or treatment plan. They may be unsuitable for children, athletes, pregnancy, or some medical conditions. Do not use a calculator to change medication or delay care; discuss personal concerns with a qualified health professional.
