Color Tools: practical guide

Use a color converter when you already know a color and need another notation, a picker when you need to sample a pixel, and a palette tool when you want coordinated alternatives. HEX and RGB describe channel values; HSL describes hue, saturation, and lightness in a different coordinate system.

Worked example

The color `#336699` corresponds to RGB `(51, 102, 153)`. Converting between these notations preserves the represented color, while mixing two colors creates a new channel value. Check the result on the actual background where text or controls will appear.

What to check before relying on a result

A digital RGB mixture models emitted screen light; it does not predict paint or printed ink. Display calibration, color profiles, transparency, and surrounding colors affect appearance. A visually pleasing palette is not automatically accessible, so measure foreground/background contrast before publishing a design.
